    I want to enter a gaming IRC chat again, one that is centered on retro/vintage/obscure gaming or collecting rather than current gen titles. A channel focussed on imports would be ideal.

    I know #shmups from the website with the same name, but these people are mainly idling :p

    You'll find that in IRC. Any channels I use gaming-related (mostly arcade) are like that. Stick a sound on to notify you when someone's started talking, and get on with something else ;-)

    To be honest, I can't be bothered any more. Forums are easier.

    IRC is soooo 90ties.. most people don't talk anymore they are just there out of nostalgia.

    I'm in an active gaming IRC channel, efnet #paforums_PAX but it's mostly for people who attend the PAX video game convention.

    according to Numb3r5 IRC is used by hackers as there secret hideout and speak in l33tsp33k. I dont know about you, But through allthe hackers i know/known none spoke in l33tsp33k.
