Just read part 2 and liked it. Must say that I actually have started to like the whole magazine, never read it before.
Thinking of maybe start buying it every month.. just have to find some space for the magazine (just thrown out 3-4yrs of computer magazines as I need the space).

this makes me more interested. Assembler has been sued for parts of his collection? Why?

Well, the issue with part 2 is the last I worked on, before quitting, so it could all be downhill from here!

Utterly horrid publishing company. I'd rather eat crushed glass than work there again.

Still, I hear they've got some good articles lined up, so it may be worth checking out later issues. I dunno.

Just picked up the one with Contra on the cover a few days ago. Didn't realize it had the article in it actualy till I was flipping through the pages and saw some familiar pics. Was actualy fairly shocked when I realized which article the pics were for (seriously, never thought i'd get the chance to see it in print).

Great stuff as always Szczepaniak, keep us posted when you decide to release any more of your maticulously researched and entertaining articles. :)

Sorry, man. I'm retired from games journalism now. That was my magnum opus. Time to hang up the quills and actually make some decent money for a change.

    EDIT:
Wow, this article has caused some anger over at Digital Press, and Frank Cifaldi is not happy about being mentioned/quoted!

This hardly counts as a "beef between assembler and digitpress", but a while back they tried to "invade" our forum:

    http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2016

Oh, and here's the link to the thread Szczepaniak was talking about (the one with all the whining):

Having re-read that thread, it seems to me that nobody really got "owned" at all. There was just a huge amount of hypocrisy in the air; people here getting on their moral high horses about someone making NES repro carts when there was a massive push here at the same time to get PA repros made. If it was forum vs forum (which it clearly isn't from that thread), both would be guilty.

I've always hated this "us vs them" bullshit, anyway, whoever it's about.

I said owned in a mostly joking manner, but whatever. If it's just going to cause more whining then I can change it.

That's why I said "hardly counts as a beef between assembler and digitpress" because there really wasn't much too it.

Yeah, no shit. In that thread at DP, one of the guys said everyone here takes themselves too seriously. I throw an unnecessary F-bomb in just about every fucking post (see?), and regularly talk about slugging myself in the genetalia. How can I be taking myself too seriously?

Ever since that shit happened, the wiki tends to get vandalized.
