Thought I would post my experience trying Retrobright on my Saturn hardware. Day one didn't go too well as I had started later in the day and didn't get too much sunlight. The parts had some areas that were still yellow, probably because I used my hands to spread the gel and didn't do it evenly enough. I started earlier on day two and used a paint brush to spread the gel around and tried to get it more even. Some before and after pics through 2 treatments. The yellowing is gone, but now there is a "blooming" effect where some areas are slightly whiter than others. How do you prevent this from happening? At least now it doesn't look like someone took a piss on them... I also did some severely discolored controllers. I only had enough hydrogen peroxide for one treatment so there is still a bit of yellowing on the edges. If you've used Retrobright, please post any pics, tips or experiences.
the problem with un-even finish when retrobrighting is is down to the fact it relies on UV light and even distribution of the mixture. areas that get more light or more of the retrobright mix will end up brighter than the areas that got less that's why there is a blooming effect as you say. this would be hard to get around unless able to completely submerge items in a completely even mix and beam UV light through it
