I'm starting a new thread for Retrocade because ALL the links in the old thread are either outdated or dead now and I've added 3 spin offs to the Retrocade Family. I also over the weekend re edited the show for either content or time. For those new to Retrocade it's MST3k meets Retrocore Meets Pro Wrestling. Please stop wasting your time. I beleave it's fairly clear by the lack of replies on this post that no one likes your shit show, try doing something good like yakumo. :sexy2::sexy2::sexy2::sexy2: Every game you review has been played by almost everyone here so it fails to grasp any attention. Review Games that are not that common, like imports perhaps? Jesus christ I know you can't afford a capturing card, but atleast record the damn audio with mic in for god sakes.
Fine you don't like the show but plenty of other people do so STFU and don't watch it. You obviously don't GET the show or the point of it and I'm not going to explain it to you either. You either get it or you don't. OK I'll give you this one tip. Don't take the show so seriously It's not a serious game show. It was always meant from day one to be a Parody of Retrocore.
If you don't like it that's fine it's definatly not for everyone. But come on dude, you should have figured this show wasn't a serious one when my producer is a talking teddy bear. Oh and the way it's done is a stylistic choice if I wanted to use video capture I'd get a USB capture and do it all that way but pointing the camera at the TV gives it kind of an MST3k Vibe
how many hits is your show getting per episode? I noticed that my YouTube views are really low for the first few months so I checked the stats of the official Retro Core pages and was I surprised! The last Retro Core SS had just over 3000 views  Looks like people do care about video and sound quality after all  yakumo
They're low right now because I had to re-upload them. The 4th Episode which was my GameCenter CX episode has over 1000 views since I reupped it most of them from Japan. The challenge I face is finding an audience for the show since it's not a typical games show and I don't flat out say that it doesn't take it self seriously, I just expect people to deduct that. But when the shows were initially posted I was getting a few hundred views and I'm find with that. I'd rather have a small cult following than none at all although I do want a following large enough to justify a DVD run.
One of my concerns with this show is that it's super boring. The reasons for this are: - extremely random, unorganized content wrestlers, naked girls, random gameplay footage - wtf, as if I'd click my way through youtube on a lame Sunday w/occasional masturbation in between. It's neither cohesive nor captivating and does not motivate me to keep watching at all. - really bad gameplay skills those sequences of Daioujou and Ketsui were the worst I've ever seen in my life. You're using bombs at the most random places, have obviously NO IDEA how to play the game AT ALL (not even using the laser in DOJ, don't vary between shot and lockon in Ketsui). It's seriously not fun to watch but damn annoying. Or to be more precise, it lacks the "flow", you die every 5 seconds (not exaggerated) because you obviously give a shit. As if you record one take and that's it (that's probably true though). Practice before you record. - it doesn't seem like you know what you're talking about same problem as above. Some gameplay looks like you're not only playing the game for the first time, but as if you don't even know the controls or how the genre works (daioujou). I mean what the heck. Do some research before and demonstrate games properly. - you don't say anything most of the time During the DOJ and Ketsui segments you hardly talk at all, except for some occasional "oh i have no bombs" or "i suck" - wtf. That's like watching somebody else playing, without the benefit of having company. Considering that you can hardly convince people to watch it because of the exclusivity of the footage, not in terms of picture quality and definitely not in terms of gameplay skills , you should have at least one factor that you offer exclusively, like a nice commentary. Retro Core is filled to the top with information about the game, tricks in the games, background info, nostalgic stories et cetera. In Retrocade Fantasia it's all quiet. WTF? Why am I watching this? It's supposed to be a parody, right? Tell me something that entertains me. For instance, Daioujou wasn't even introduced. Someone who doesn't know this game is perfectly clueless what exactly this is. Someone who does know it but isn't very familiar with the gameplay does not get anything out of this, too. If you don't know how a game works (which is apparent in my examples), do some research. Success requires work. Put something up that looks like it's been assembled in an hour with no effort at all and you get what you get.
Randomness is kind of the point. Some people like it some don't Some people complained my intro was too long once. Not everybody is going to like it. Naked Chicks was the idea of a loyal fan. The Pro Wrestling part of the show... that is something that will take a while to explain. BUT the title it self was taken from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRSjolV7ME4 notice it has the same theme music Retrocade has Somebody on Magic Box actually said my gaming skills are "better than Yakumo's." . Maybe it's not the case for you but alot of people find the fact I suck at shmups sometimes to be rather entertaining. It might not be for you and that's fine. Sometimes I play before hand others I don't. In the Episode I'm doing now I did several takes for Both Darku Tenshi, Bad Dudes and Street Fighter The Movie Well usually I don't I record early in the morning when I am most likely to say the most random shit I could possibly say. and YES in some cases it is the first time or the first time in awhile In shmups I think the humor comes from me dying. If you go back to the very first episode there's an edited montage of me dying in X4. In the episode I'm working on now I go Quiet during Ninja Warriors because of the music but when playing Violent storm there's alot of random observations being made. In all honestly I'll probably refilm 90% of what I ready did for this episode because of the lack of dialog. This Episode I'm doing as the Dr Levesque character. The show may not be for you and that's fine and I appreciate constructive criticism and everything you said is within reason and valid. It's different from the vast majority of shows about Video games on line and the fact the show is done under a premise that was only explained once might make it harder to understand it's context. Maybe in Season 2 there will be something that explains that. I'm still experimenting and seeing what works and what doesn't. My Favorite Episode is Episode 5 and Episode 6. Those 2 are my favorites. Episode 6 sort of wrapped up the whole Retrocore parody deal. OH by the way....You might want to watch the show again after a few beers, high or otherwise intoxicated, People tell me the show is way better when Self medicated. Maybe the show just isn't for you too and that's fine I don't expect everyone to love it But I do want to make it appeal to more people so I'll see what I can do. It's a weird show I know and I have an odd manor of thinking. I'm not so shocked that people like it but that so few people actually hate it. I thought it would be universally panned and I'd stop doing it after a few episodes but somehow I found a small audience that loves whatever the hell I'm doing. I'll have a better explanation for the show up on the website/blog tomorrow.
People who brag about gaming skills have small dicks  That's how I see it. The whole so so is better than so so talk is just a pissing contest between guys. Same with anything really, cars, girl friends, homes and so on. I've found the older I get the worse I become at games. In 2000 I completed Code Veronica twice on the Dreamcast (Normal and extra version) yet this week I've been playing the "HD remake" (yeah, looks just like the DC version through VGA) on the 360 but had to resort to a guide to complete the game :crying: I play for fun anyway not to master a game unless I really like it. I'd kick anyone's arse on Virtual On Force that's for sure
I never said I had better gaming skills than you. It was just stated on the Magic Box Forums. I was never able to clear Code Veronica with out some help from mr Gameshark. And I don't have any understanding at all of Virtual On, Somebody told me I should learn to jump cancel and I haven't the slightest idea of what that even is. I am definitely better at some games than I am others. But when I'm bad at a game and I have it documented I leave it there anyway. I have a Philosophy of "Nobody wants to see you succeed deep down they want you to fail" Anywho, I should have that Retrocade for Dummies synopsis explaining the show for those that don't quite get it ready later today. I neglected to say only the first 6 episodes are Parodies of Retrocore everything after I've been trying to figure out what to do with the show hence the extra randomness.
I'll add to it as time goes on http://retrocadefantasia.blogspot.com/2011/12/retrocade-fantasia-for-dummiesfaq.html
And this is exactly why I hate MLG. A bunch of braggers who have nothing better to do than play one game all day every day and get paid for it then blowing it on hookers at the hotel after. Any who the new episode has been uploaded to archive.org and I will start streaming it on the blog Friday. I hope the issenters like this one more than the previous one. Alot of obscure games, clear commentary which does talk about the game as well as being amusing and no randomness it has a concept and sticks to it. In this case it's a Kung Fu movie.
I'm with everyone else. Even if I ignore your spectacularly bad reputation here, the content is a mess and it's incredibly annoying to watch someone who doesn't know the material, yet is trying to generate views/discussions on it. Just let the show die already.
Ok first off someone should mention Assemblers youtube videos which you can find searching "assemblerex". They're all about ten minutes long and your jaw will drop at all the cool stuff you'll see. His videos are like potato chips you just want to watch one more. Alright that said, I tried watching retrocade fantasia awhile ago and got thorugh about five minutes of it. Its obvious that he puts some effort into at least putting it together so I never posted anything really negative about it. After this thread I tried a random episode (the ronin one) and heres what I think. 1. These shows are almost 2 hours long. Thats insane. If your going to do a show two hours long, its time to just start live video blogging like on Justin.tv. or UStream. Because at two hours its not really a show, its you video blogging just random stuff that interests you. 2. Cutting the show down to twenty minutes with a few bits here and there would make the whole thing much better, even with the wrestling bits (how does that really apply to retro arcading??). 3. There are some funny bits, I do like the idea of the stupid bear it reminds me of something from Jackass or Wundershowzen, but because theres no tightness to the show, it gets lost. 4. Honestly, if your going to have wrestling, you should add other retro content too, video game and wrestling is just a weird mix by itself. 5. The reason stoners and the inebriated like the show is because they're too zoned out to change what they're watching. So yeah, some potential here but if you really want to see the king of these kinds of humorous gaming videos, you need to watch the Angry Video Game Nerd on gametrailers. Then one up that. Then you'll have something.
You know I just realized...because 5 people don't get the show...I have no reason to change it because a minority complained. People like this show BECAUSE it's so different and random so why should I change it because 5 people don't like it. I'll tone some aspects down to make it more accessible but I'm not changing the entire show format. That said if you really want a good idea of what the show's all about then I suggest watching Episodes 5 and 6 that's where I peaked. Then Watch the Street Fighter special when you have time. If you want a more serious show watch the Episodes of Retrocade Sega and SNK Most retrocade Sega episodes are under an hour. Retrocade SNK is over an hour but that's due to the KOF XIII playthrough I did. That doesn't mean though I won't take reasonable suggestions under consideration. I'm thinking of doing more retro things in the next season Commercials, Cartoon openings, ect and I really need to do more stuff with anime.
