http://www.lofi-gaming.org.uk/temp/retrogamer.jpg I smell lawsuit. Look at the Studyplan, I'm pretty sure that's Assembler's pic from the ROVGM site. Of course, I'm willing to bet that pic and all the others came from my site, but I can't complain since I stole them all anyway. Which reminds me, I owe an apology to you Kevin, as I've pretty much ripped off all your pics from your old site. I took them all several years ago when I first came across your site, before I became a regular member of the forums and all. See, you inspired me to make my own console site and stuff, so like, ummm, I would like to take this embarrassing opportunity right now to formally ask you for permission to use all of those pictures? I say we get together and both sue Retrogammer. At least make them put the URL under the pics next time.
I sent retrogamer this e-mail on Assembler's behalf: Of course Assembler I don't want to speak for you if you want to sue them or something. I would say you problably are entitled to some compensation, since they made money from one of your pics (and just didn't innocently take it with no ill will like me )
I believe he asked me ages and ages ago for permission. I just hope he gave me a mention in the book.
Actually I'm the the owner of the 720 and Dendy systems pictured in the article and the original source of the images. (FAMICLONE asked my permission to use them years ago) http://famiclone.emucamp.com/720/720.htm <- Note the "Obscure Pixels" Links under the pictures (credits oddly enough that are missing on these pictures on your own site) This will be the 3rd time images from my site have appeared in various UK "retro" articles uncredited. If they actually asked i could do them some decent pics! In this case they actually appear to have read my pages and ripped some of the factual bits quoted from my pages (ie. 10,000 built in games etc.) http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~pinwhiz/famicom.htm
Hey Radar, Ummm.... May I have permission to use those pics on my site? Becasue like, I already am and stuff. Yes, I am a thief. But this is very liberating to my conscious, comming clean like this.
Permission granted - its not a problem. I've used your pages as a reference in the past and found them useful. My own pages are due to fade away sometime soon as I no longer have any time to maintain them. (I've just checked and the famicom pages went up back in 1998)
Maybe a little silly for jumping the gun there, but still, I should have asked permission four years ago. I didn't want to see people I respect getting ripped off, but that would be very hypocritical of me since I myself am in fact ripping them off. So, I'm going to go back over all my pages and give credit/put a link to whoever I stole the pic from. Which is what I should have done in the first place (in addition to asking that is.) I feel much better.
Hey Mike, nice to see you around again, soon as I saw the 720 & Dendy Jr I recognised them as yours. Sad to hear your site is to go, used to look forward to updates (& complain when you didn't update I'll have to go & download the lot... So which issue of retrogamer was this from? I'll have to pick up a copy just for this rather weak page. kevin www.famiclone.com
