That Analouge NT is a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY.. Why in the hell would i want to use that, when i can get HDMI and RGB installed in my Famicom for a Fraction of the price.... just cause of two slots? don't need it anyway, that's what my everdrive is for All of the rest shown here, especially the retron is a redundant piece of crap, i have an old broke LG G2X that can output HDMI and play every emulator that can for free. OTG if i want to use real controllers. not that i need to... Playing on real hardware is where it's at for me.
I didn't Realize they were the same group that made the Woodgrain Neos, its cool, BUT once again, For the price.. id buy a real damn arcade unit. almost bought one for 250 locally a little while ago, but the wife wasn't having it
I'm pretty sure their Neo Geos are actual MVS boards, so I can't see how it'd be crap. I've been thinking about consolizing an MVS board, but I'd rather do it myself.
I doubt the Hyperkin will sell enough for anyone to be bothered about. They can't argue a point about selling the hardware when the item they are purporting to sell is a multi-gaming platform with built in emulators. Fact is though if Hyperkin were to get into any issues it would be from the likes of the console game companies whos carts would work on the system, eg Nintendo; who would go for them; rather than a couple of programmers who made an emulator. In my view, you either want to use original hardware and original games (all be it tweak the original hardware to make it output on modern televisions); or you want emulation in which case get a cheap computer, pre-load the emulators yourself and ROMS. Heck, I use Intel HUC computers at home as my main computers, they are tiny but full powered PC's, about the size of about 4 CD cases on top of each other - small, very low power consumption (about 9-38 watts) and very portable.
The patents on all those systems expired years ago, that's why companies are making NES and SNES clone consoles left and right. Most of the trademarks are still in place, which is why they're usually marketed as something like "8-bit and 16-bit console"
But the Retron 5 doesn't have a N64 port. It's got Famicom, NES, Genesis/MD, GBA/GBC/GB, and SNES/SFC.
My buddy has the Retron 5 for one... and one reason only. The translation patches. Unfortunately the North American versions of some games like "Secret of Mana" and "Earthbound" are out of this world (no pun intended) but loose copies of the Famicon versions are super cheap. Sure you can play it emulated on an xbox or whatever but he does like to collect and so having a cartridge is a plus. Having said that..it does seem a bit "off" when you play it..and heaven forbid you use a retron controller to play...it's simply horrible.
