Retron 5 - Bin2Retron5.exe will not open, not a valid win32 application.

Hey guys and gals.

i ust purchased a retron 5 and would like to get the roms working for it. i get how to do the step by step tutorial. i unzipped the "Retron5IPSCreatorv2" file. for some reason, Bin2Retron5.exe will not because it says that its not a valid win32 application. anyone know why? i just searched the forum before posting as well and did not see anything so i decided to make a new thread. i hope someone can help me out!

 

Sounds like it might be corrupt. Redownload it.

No one will know why, because no idea what OS you're using..

Worked for me, opens up a small window with "Open rom" and "Open directory". Using Windows 7 64-bit.
Maybe it's your archiving program causing issues? Which one are you using? I tried with WinRAR 5.21 64-bit.

 

My apologies, I'm using Windows XP.

That's the same file I downloaded, but when I try to open the Bin2Retron5.exe file, it says that it's not a valid win32 application. Also I'm using Winrar 5.00 beta 6 (32 bit)

XP could be your problem here, it's an outdated OS now.

 

Retron 5 is only an android based computer running emulators; what's the benefit of getting one and modding it rather than getting a Raspberry Pi or similar, and use the same emulators on that; after all you either prefer emulation or the "real deal" so if you are happy with emulators, I don't see the point of the Retron 5 - if you have original game carts you're better off using original hardware anyway, IMO.

 

Opened it up in an XP virtual machine and to my surprise - I got the same error and it didn't work.
Maybe it's not necessarily the OS but perhaps a framework of some kind needs to be installed to make it work.

This itself is pretty off-topic but one of the nice thing about the Retron 5 is the controller ports IMO.

And .Net Framework 4.5 doesn't work on XP. Could explain why it doesn't work.

TL;DR: Use the program on a newer version of Windows.

no particular reason that dude used .net 4.5 not like he was async/await-ing everywhere as far as i can tell... give this a go on xp make sure you have .net 4
