RGB consoles to 15Khz VGA RGBHV monitor

    To be honest, this is getting a bit discouraging, and not having an oscilloscope at home (mind you, not that I would be able to exploit its full potential, but at least I could see some waveforms and levels...) only makes things worse. :-\

    I'll keep you informed, also because the Amiga is just a first step (since it already has native Hsync and Vsync it was guaranteed to be working), as per thread title what I *really* have to make sure of is the compatibility of "old" consoles like Megadrive/Genesis, SNES, N64, etc.

    Ok, another big update.

    It's working! :)
    I bought a brand new SCART female connector and an arguably more suited cable (the old one had smaller wires that suffered mechanical stress), and I can proudly say that not only the Amiga but also my modded/universal Megadrive works flawlessly, with their own unmodified SCART cables, i.e. no need to fiddle with any caps or resistors on the connector's end.

    N64 on the other hand isn't properly working, but I suspect there's a cable issue there: here we have a japanese/american model custom modified to offer RGB output, and strangely enough (?) it behaves differently depending on the cable I use.

    With a PAL Gamecube RGB cable basically nothing works, BUT, with a former SNES/SFamicom RGB cable monitor actually do syncs to the signal, but I get a 100% red picture.

    Glad to hear that everything is working!

    Is C-Sync connected to pin 3 of the multi-out in your N64? If so, use an NTSC SNES RGB SCART cable wired for C-Sync with it and see if it helps.

    I was able to made the N64 work as well with a different RGB cable during the weekend: tried with both composite video and luma as sync, but both didn't improve picture quality. I'm not sure if the sync separator I'm using accepts csync as input, but I can look into it.

    Anyway, I'm afraid there's something wrong with the console itself (it's a second-hand, pre-modded by the previous owner for RGB output) so I guess it's time to move to the dedicated thread I've already eyed up.

    I apologize in advance for the extremely poor stripboard populating skills, as I said I have very limited electronics knowledge and I guess it shows in the way I assembled the circuit. :)

    ive just read this and yeah realized the LM1881 "H sync" is garbage H sync. I had a LMH1980 lying around and made a quick cable to go between my console(s) and my NEC LCD which supports 15khz and wallah, itworks. With the LM1881, the NEC LCD monitor would not sync.
