Fun Fact: RyanGamerGoneGrazy is an avid model railroader

I've finally finished my 4th, and 1st N-scale model railroad
Its been a long time coming, i seem to recall starting this back in october, but things take time, not to mention a hell of alot of drywall compound..anyways

Its a small layout, at most 16"x25", its built upon some 2" thick pink foam, and alot of plaster, ballasted track...hand painted track..yada yada...get one with the pics you say?

    Look..its a blue house.....and a tree

Funny seeing a grand trunk car, on a canadian layout

My prised 0-6-0....entering one of the tunnels
    [IMG]
The city side of the layout......note the 10 year old lichen moss
    [IMG]
A shabby looking hotel, with what appears to be a servicing line heading into a tunnel
    [IMG]
A top down view..shows how small it is
    [IMG]
More of a top down view.....do you KNOW how agrevating building those tree's are?
    Its a Dash-8 40CW...aint she a beaut?
    hmm.....looks kinda infested doesnt it?
nice little station...and yes its suposed to look like dirt
    [IMG]
    telephone polls.......and a road
    [IMG]
    another hotel shot
    [IMG]
    Trees and a water tower
    [IMG]
    Lifeless Hotel....and....errr...a road
    [IMG]
Look at that track...I SAID LOOK....That ballast job is the sign of a profesional dammit
    [IMG]
    Oh so Pretty

Nice trainset, it must have taken a lot of weekends to put together. I used to enjoy model trains back in the day, but lack of space money and time put a stop to that (along with my first NES :icon_bigg - the rest is history.)

The UK has a lot of railway enthusiasts don't you know?

Wow, really nice work. I've been known to dabble in model trains myself...but your table looks a lot more complete than any i've ever done.

    I can't tell--is the table lit?

Seriously, add lights. Your transformer probably supports it, and it's really easy.

Definitely love your train set. Really shows skill and dedication.

I almost got into trains when I went to hobby lobby to buy fake grass for a project. They had some neat train accessories, but they were sort of pricey.

0_o i'd love to see some pictures!

I know i've said this alot...but a comapny (overland models) imports brass trains, that usually retail for over 2,000, and sometimes exceed 4, 000 bucks...pricey isnt the word for it lol

I will try to get some pictures posted this weekend. We have a family business that makes brass On3 train parts for most of the manufactures in the industry. I would have loved to make a layout in that scale but I just do not have the room.

I envy you macwest......On3 is a great scale, I've had my eye on a bachmann 2-8-0 in On3 for awhile....then again i would love a 3 truck shay even more

You make a valid point though, as These things take room, thats one of the reason's why i switched from HO to N-scale...sure i had several thousand invested in HO-scale stuff...but i was limited to only at maximum a 6'x6' layout...which for HO is nothing...so i made the switch to N-scale, its amazing of the size difference 1 scale makes, more so you don't need alot of room to do some really great layouts, http://www.carendt.us is maybe my most favorite site, as it features on nothing but micro and small layouts...

It's not unlike game collections, members here spend hundreds maybe thousands on games a year...everyone has a different hobby, and choose to spend their money and time on it, i split my time between the 2, it took, between October and last week to get it done, granted i didnt stick to it every day...but its not uncommon for a person to build a full room layout and take several years if not several decades to finish

err, actually a railroad is never done, they will always continue to elvolve as time moves on, see example The Utah Belt

Mark!:eek:h: ..i thought you had gone for good!....

..anyways.., yea, it looks ALOT better in natural light, i basically just fine tuned it added a few little things here and there, painted all the tree trunks etc, looks really nice now

The coolest thing however, is that this layout is now a part of Carl Arendt's Micro layout gallery, for all to see..

    http://carendt.us/scrapbook/page49/index.html

I think my next layout will be....... smaller....yes smaller
