I posted in another thread about this site I created. I'm a fairly large Mario Kart fan and know friend codes suck. So I built a site that acts like Xbox Live Messaging system for the Wii. There are a handful of forums that are really about the game so I figure posting to there members may attract them to the service because it will heavily rely on the database the users create. I'm not making any money on this site what so ever, it was a project that I thought would be useful. However it has backfired trying to get some public input on which sucks, I keep getting threads locked that say 'no advertising' I guess my pitch to get a database going is 'advertising' but there is no monetization. If they would actually go on it and register they would see how useful it is rather than the normal method of sharing your friend codes via forum. These sites make money off adrevenue so that may be part of the problem... just wanted to vent.
http://www.mariokartchallenger.com/index.php?showroom=32 ^thats what a gameroom looks like, figure I would start small with seats and limit to 5 players until growth occurs. the problem i guess i have is these sites are all making money off advertising and seem very censored versus friendly, the staff at least. We're all just gamers, you know?
