Bernadette "Bernie" Nolan has died aged 52, following a long battle with cancer. Bernie was best known as the lead singer of Irish group The Nolans, but was also known for her acting. She appeared in the West End in productions such as Blood Brothers, and on television in The Bill and Brookside. Bummer. I had no idea she had cancer though. man, cancer kills everyone. On a related note, I'll be getting my first yearly medical check this November. Every full time employee in japan must take one each year by law. Not looking forward to it at all. They shove a bloody camera in to your stomach through your nose or mouth to search for cancer.
Seriously, though - damn, that's thorough! Well, good luck with that - does sound rather brutal, but I'm sure it'll be done quick enough and it'll be panic over!
Many people I know died from cancer. My own mother died from it at a young age, I was 7 years old. My father's second wife also died from it 4 years ago. Last year a friend and work colleague suddenly collapsed on the ground in a fit of tremors while at work and was rushed to hospital by ambulance. Verdict? Inoperable brain tumor. He didnt make it to Christmas. So yeah, fuck cancer.
