The actor and DJ Casey Kasem has died, aged 82. Kasem was a popular American radio DJ, but he was best known for portraying cartoon voices. These included Robin in the Batman/Superman Hour and several voices in Transformers, but he was best known as Shaggy from a range of Scooby-Doo cartoons. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27859559 RIP Casey - I never heard your radio show, but thanks for some great character voices!
Let's do what we do best Scoob, eat! Oh man, tbh I didn't really know of this chap, but Shaggy is a part of so many kids lives growing up. RIP
The health and family issues were the saddest part. It's horrible to think that he was suffering from dementia and they weren't all supportive together and doing the best thing for him.
wow! don't really follow mainstream news, but this is a bit much. voice talent like that seldom comes around, NOBODY can hold a candle to it. (thanks a lot for making our lives a bit more happier, you'll be missed) Casey Kasem as Shaggy - MDA Telethon Plea :smile-new:
I knew of Casey Kasem from the 80's show Billboard top 100 that ITV in the UK used to air. He's also in Ghostbusters talking on the radio as Daina is cutting vegetables in the kitchen. I had no idea he did voice acting though. None at all. So he was Shaggy from Scooby Doo? man, I never would have guessed that. R.I.P.
^^ didn't realise he was the radio voice on ghostbusters, i know the scene. (before it goes to hell) ... looked for 'billboard top 100' with casey (ITV UK) but not finding anything, did find this little gem: :smile-new: ^^ strange, i've been listening to his broadcasts on my dads satellite system back in the 80's... that voice, and style is coming back to me, what a flashback... nthego: good times!
@ retro. as it happens, i was finding a few hits similar to that, i disregarded them because i took the 'ITV' bit too literally, thought the show was specific to UK. turns out it was USA given license to be aired on UK TV, thanks. :smile-new: ... @ Yakamo. safely say, i've NEVER seen the show aired my side... (watched little of UK TV when we had a 'combi-99' encoder/decoder attached to the setup, it was what introduced me to japanese animations....and bootleg anime VHS cassettes being distributed around the school yard) sorry i wasn't able to lock in what you meant, i understand better now! :smile-new:
