I have just found out that the commentator and presenter David Coleman, OBE died on 21 December aged 87. Coleman was well-known in the UK as a sports commentator and television presenter. A runner himself, he suffered a hamstring injury that prevented him from competing in the 1952 Olympics, so he approached the BBC regarding a commentator's position. He remained with the company for 48 years. During this time, he presented many shows, including Grandstand, Sportsnight, Match of the Day and Sports Review of the Year. He also gave commentary on 11 Olympic Games, 8 Commonwealth Games and 6 World Cups. He was the senior BBC football commentator for much of the Seventies, eventually passing the position on to the equally legendary John Motson. He was then host of A Question of Sport for 18 years. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25476438 RIP David - a true broadcasting legend. I'm not a sports fan, but I was still well aware of David's work, and actually rather enjoyed A Question of Sport in my childhood.
