The actor Frank Thornton has died aged 92. Thornton was best known for his roles in Are You Being Served? and Last of the Summer Wine, but he has acted on television, stage and screen, including West End performances. His other television roles included appearances on Comedy Playhouse, Armchair Theatre, Steptoe and Son, The Tommy Cooper Hour, The Goodies and The Kenny Everett Television Show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21828965 RIP Frank. Another traditional actor sadly gone.
My grandfather and I used to watch Are You Being Served? series when I was a child and to be honest I'm 22 now and I actually do enjoyed watching that series now again. Rest in Peace Frank.
Age 92, good going! I remember him too from Are you being served when it originally aired on the BBC. I don't remember him being on the The Kenny Everett Television Show though. Wasn't that the BBC series? That's when Kenny's show started to plumit IMO.
Yes, it was the BBC series that ran for seven years. The Thames Television series beforehand only ran for three years. Sid Snot was from the Thames series, which also featured bands. The BBC series, however, produced a lot of the famous sketches and characters such as Cupid Stunt. I'm not sure which sketch(es) Frank was in, to be fair. He was also in the episode of Hancock's Half Hour called The Blood Donor.
He certainty go around. That's what makes a great actor, someone who is willing to try bit of everything.
