George Baker, the British actor most famous for playing Inspector Wexford, has died.

His other television roles included appearances in Doctor Who, The Prisoner, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, The Goodies, Coronation Street, No Job For a Lady, Robin of Sherwood, Triangle and I, Claudius, to name but a few.

His fame is not limited to Britain or the goggle box, though! He was in The Dam Busters, three James Bond films (Ian Fleming even considered him the perfect choice for Bond!), the Robert Powell version of The Thirty Nine Steps and several Ealing films.

RIP George. You were a great actor, and your contributions will be enjoyed for years to come still.
