yes, he'll find the peace in death he clearly never got in life! :(
the quality of artwork and depth of vision can be gauged on how tortured a soul was, and he was not right to say the least.
takes all-sorts to bring a new perspective into the world, his WILL last for generations to come.
thanks for your contributions to the art world and the movie/game industry. :friendly_wink:

This is possibly the first celebrity death to happen this year that actually made me have an emotion. Dude was crazygenius.
It's tragic because you never expect the greats to go out in such a... undignified way.
You know, BIG names, took a tumble... Sounds so.. meager. And he was anything but that in life.

    Sad news!

A good friend of mine has a full sleeve tattoo of his bio-mech work and it looks amazing but that's testament to his work.

Been a fan of Giger since he worked on the original alien. As well a huge inspiration to myself growing up with my drawings. Granted I never got nearly as good and most likely never will be but he showed me that you can do whatever you want and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You made your place in art history Giger just know that. RIP

Sorry, everyone. this is my fault.
    Oh?

Yeah, so. Last night I was watching this YouTube video and they were talking about Alien figures and stuff. I ended up putting my laptop down on the floor and continued to listen to it and then, finally trying to sleep, I COULD NOT get Giger's work out of my head. I had my hands on a couple of his art books many years ago for a short period of time. I just saw all of those brilliant works and the movie sets... not in a bad way, but after a good half hour of my mind racing through all of that uncontrollably, it got a little annoying I'll admit. I wanted to sleep.

So then I wake up this morning, and the first news I read is...

    yeah...

This sorta happened before. I'm not one for the supernatural or paranormal or any of that, it's fun and interesting but I don't think much of it. However, some day in 2010 I was at a party and we were all talking about how Peter Steele had just died the month before. Someone else had died a bit before him... I don't remember who it was. We talked about the influence of Type O Negative on our music careers and upbringing. Out of the blue, while on the subject of "everyone is dying!", I said aloud "Who's next... Ronnie James Dio?" Everyone chuckled. Next day, I wake up and guess what...

    Yep...

Anyway. I was maybe 14 when I got to thumb through those Giger picture books. It blew my mind. I knew Alien well enough, but it didn't even register until I got to those sections that this book was about "the guy that did Alien". I immediately fell in love with his work.

Then it is mine too, because the last Youtube video I watched last night was the Nostalgia Critic talking about Alien 3. Coincidences don't equal paranormal/magic. I am not sure what would.

Either way, it is just a sad event. Luckily he left an impact on a lot of us with what he created, & will continue to do so far after his (what i would say is a premature) death.
