The actor James Garner has died, aged 86.

Garner was best known for his lead roles in Maverick and The Rockford Files, but was seen on television and cinema screens throughout his career, which spanned six decades, including roles in Grand Prix, Space Cowboys and The Notebook. He was said to have impressed racing experts during the filming of Grand Prix - so much that they said he could have raced professionally! He purchased a racing team and ran it for three seasons. He also drove the pace car for three Indianapolis 500 races.

RIP James - yet another great, classic actor sadly no longer with us.

So happy he lived a decently long life. My parents love The Rockford Files. RIP.
