The Canadian singer-songwriter, poet and author Leonard Cohen has died aged 82. Cohen started out as a poet and author. However, after disappointing sales, he moved to America and took up folk music. He became very popular amongst his fellow songwriters, his poetic writing style being very influential. After Worldwide success in the late Sixties and throughout the Seventies, he released a few more albums (including his best-known song, Hallelujah) before retreating to a Zen monastery and becoming a Buddhist monk for several years. A few more albums emerged before the revelation that his long-time manager had stolen money from him. Whilst he was awarded $9 million, she ignored a subpoena and was later arrested. Whilst her suit against him was dismissed only months ago, he never received payment from her. However, after a successful World Tour, so successful that it ran for three years, he received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and released three more albums this decade, all of which were Top 10 hits in many countries. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/leonard-cohen-dead-at-82-w449792 RIP Leonard.
