The actress Betty Gleadle, MBE, better known by her stage name Liz Smith, has died aged 95. Smith started her career on television in the early Seventies in shows such as Emmerdale Farm, Last of the Summer Wine and David Copperfield. Film appearances included several Pink Panther films, although her first appearance ended up on the cutting room floor, The French Lieutenant's Woman, and the Johnny Depp film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, her best-loved role was that of Nana in the television sitcom The Royle Family. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38440648 RIP Betty. Thanks for some great characters!
Such a shame but at 95 years old she sure had a good running. Funny that the Royal Family Queen of Shiba Christmas special was on again a few days ago. That's the one where she actually dies in the show.
