The actor Martin Landau has died aged 89, from complications following a hospital visit. After studying at the Actors Studio, Landau worked in theatre productions and bit parts in popular television series, although he really wanted to act in movies. His first big movie was Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest. In the Sixties, he landed the role of Rollin Hand in Mission: Impossible alongside his wife Barbara Bain, refusing to be contracted so he can concentrate on movies. After the first season credited with special guest appearances earned him a Golden Globe win, he agreed to a year-by-year contract. In the Seventies, the couple starred in puppet master Gerry Anderson's live-action show Space: 1999. After more bit parts, his performance in Ed Wood earned him an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.... his third Golden Globe after winning the same award for Tucker: The Man and His Dream. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/martin-landau-dead-ed-wood-811318 RIP Martin. A great, versatile actor. Thanks for being involved in my love of the worlds of Gerry Anderson.
