Former UK radio DJ and television presenter Mike Smith has died aged 59 after complications from heart surgery. Mike DJed on Capital Radio before moving to Radio 1 where he eventually became the breakfast DJ. Breakfast then became a familiar theme in his career, working on Breakfast Time and The Late, Late Breakfast Show. He also presented several episodes of Top of the Pops. He and wife Sarah Greene were involved in the 1992 Hallowe'en show Ghostwatch, advertised as a documentary but it was, in fact, scripted. Despite a helicopter crash a few years prior, he gave up presenting to form a company that took aerial shots for television shows. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-28623367 RIP Mike - I remember your shows fondly.
all the good talent is leaving us behind. at least he won't have to endure anymore. aye, recall the radio one stuff, didn't watch 'ghostwatch' though. ... R.I.P. dude, it's done!
I remember Mike Smith well. Although we didn't listen to Raidio One in my home I did know him from Top of the Pops as well as other shows.
