The drummer Nick Menza has died aged 51, after suffering a heart attack and collapsing on stage. Menza started his career in a band with Randy Rhoads' sister before moving on to sessing drumming with artists such as John Fogerty, but was best known for his stint with Megadeth for nearly a decade, playing on four of their most successful albums released in the Nineties. His father was the acclaimed jazz saxophonist Don Menza, who recorded with many famous artists and played in Buddy Rich's band. As a young drummer, Nick was fortunate enough to spend time with Buddy, even recalling, "He came on the bus once and asked if I could roll. I said drum roll, he said NOOO - joints!" Ten years ago, Nick had an accident with a power saw and needed reconstructive surgery on his arm, which he nearly lost. He sold the saw blade at auction! Since then, he has played in a number of bands and was performing with OHM at the time of his death. http://www.theguardian.com/music/20...eth-drummer-dies-collapsing-stage-los-angeles RIP Nick.
