The Actor Omar Sharif has died of a heart attack aged 83. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Sharif began his career in Egypt before getting his big break in Lawrence of Arabia. He has played a number of lead characters in films such as Gengis Khan, Doctor Zhivago and Che! His career spanned an impressive seven decades. Whilst he missed out on the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Lawrence of Arabia, he did win three Golden Globes.
