The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his New York apartment. A cause of death has not been revealed. He was 46. Hoffman has played many roles in a career spanning just over 20 years. He is known for films such as Capote, Along Came Polly, Mission Impossible III, Cold Mountain, Punch-Drunk Love, Almost Famous, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Twister, Boogie Nights and The Big Lebowski. He also appeared frequently in the theatre, where he was nominated for several Tony awards, but never won. However, he won an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for his role in Capote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-26009575 RIP Philip - thanks for some great and often underrated characters.
Curious to see the cause of death. Going that young is always a shame. He was a pretty versatile actor. RIP, he will be missed.
The cause of death is presumed overdose. There was a needle in his arm when he was found, and an envelope with what appeared to be heroin was found by his body. I always tell people to drive carefully and stay away from hard drugs. Both take so many young lives. Especially since he was clean for 23 years prior to this year.
A huge shame, especially if he relapsed. Left behind a partner & 3 kids which is the worst part - now his kids have to grow up without a father.
He was one of my most admired actor of this actor generation. and I was sure he had his best film times still ahead. damn drugs. R.I.P. Philip..and bless his family / young kids
He did it to himself. Why can't they take a cue from the actresses and just do blow? Too Soon? That aside this is a Loss he was a great actor and a very convincing Capote.
Capote moved me... just like pretty much all his other movies no matter how small his roll. And the ones that didn't he usually made me laugh.
RAIN DROPS! Addiction is a tricky one. I smoked habitually for years, knowing that it is an amazingly awful thing to put in your body. Did it anyway for 9 years.
