    Nothing to do with plastic, this! Sadly, Marianne Elliot-Said, better know as Poly Styrene, lead singer of X-Ray Spex has died.

    X-Ray Spex were one of the first punk bands I heard - I certainly would put them among the bands that got me into the genre.

    I just saw the news about Poly on Nme.com - what a shame. I saw her play with X-Ray Spex at the Roundhouse reunion gig a couple of years ago, and she looked and sounded amazing. She'll be hugely missed...

    Ah, lucky you! I would have liked to have seen them live.

    Apparently Robert Llewellyn (Kryten from Red Dwarf) used to live next door to her! He said she was a lovely person, not at all like you'd expect from her stage persona.
