The musician and actor Prince Rogers Nelson has been found dead at his Minnesota home, aged 57. The cause of death is unknown as yet, but it is said he was in ill health.

Prince was known as a multi-instrumentalist, capable of playing many instruments and with a large vocal range. He even dabbled with creating his own instruments and musical scales! He was also renowned for changing his name, including to a symbol, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince and The Artist.

He released many albums and singles throughout a career spanning 5 decades, appeared in several films, most notable Purple Rain and even appeared in an episode of New Girl.

I heard about Chyna today at work from a coworker (who I would never have thought even knew who she was or what she was from), and now I come home to this?! Rest in peace.

I don't know who China is but a sure do know who Prince is. Man, this really is a shitty year for celebrity deaths. I remember in the school playground kids would debate who was the coolest, Micheal Jackson or Prince.

While normally I would get annoyed regarding people jumping on an artist's bandwaggon after his/her death, for Prince it's the opposite. I want everybody who hasn't listened to his music to listen to everything you can. He didn't make a bad album from 1980's Dirty Mind (my personal favorite) to 1987's Sign o' the Times. Start anywhere in there and you won't be disappointed.

Incredibly surprising and disappointing. I will agree, this year has been awful for celebrity deaths.

Sad to hear about Prince, not that I really ever grew up in the generation but my father did like his music - It's being played often on random TV shows and just reminds me of him.

Also let's not consider the year to be bad, or cursed that's just such stupid talk. Many of the actors, and artists are in the age group of medical issues. You can be completely healthy and gone the day.

Chyna should get her own thread. She was...........interesting to say the least.

Prince was another reason I got a Turntable, But as of yet I haven't gotten any of his albums. I'm sure as with Bowie the prices and availability of his albums are going to sky rocket on vinyl, worse yet I can't stream anything of his in the meantime....

Emancipation is a vastly underrated album from his unpronoucable symbol days.

    Who's next? :(

What's happening this year? I don't know Chyna either but in France, we have several artists who died in 2016 too...
