You can't say it wasn't a cool way to go. Blown up in a car going 110mph. If you think about it, it was his ultimate stunt.
You nearly did! :-0 It's easy to lay blame on alcohol or speed (and was that a regular cigarette in the photo?), but we don't know for sure. Of course, drink driving is stupid and there's no reason to drive that fast on public roads - especially if he was in his home town, anyway! Driving in a straight line is one thing, but there are probably curves in the road, crosswinds could occur, not to mention other road users to avoid. From the photos at the scene, it looks like it was on a junction - not the best place to be doing such speeds: http://globalgrind.com/news-politics/ryan-dunn-accident-dead-dies-jackass-scene-photos It's a sad thing, but I think we all know the driver was to blame one way or another. Hopefully it will teach the other members of the Jackass team, and idiot copycats, that they're not invincible.
From this photo you can see that the main road was straight, nicely paved, and rather wide, so it's not too surprising he was doing over 100 at that time of the day (little to no traffic on a good road). You can see that he was trying to make the exit and didn't slow down enough ahead of time.
whats interesting about the skid mark photo is that the left front wheel is cockeyed you can tell by the skid mark on the inside of the bold double skid marks and there is only 3 skid marks leading to the crash site and it is on the left side the right side has no extra skid marks so to me that lends some credibility to the wheel hub breaking and the left front wheel was dragging we wont know more for 4-6 weeks when the tox report comes out and or a full police crash report comes out
I think when he's gone to do the turning one of the left wheels has dragged like angelwolf said and he couldn't turn. His death was already sad but if it turns out it is the hub it'll be even worse because then the blame culture will begin (which it would because it will have had a part in his death but alcohol and his speed definately factored.)
i do hear by eat my words he was drunk as a skunk http://jalopnik.com/5814543/ryan-dunn-twice-legal-alcohol-limit-before-fatal-car-crash he had a blood alcohol level of 0.196% twice the legal limit of 0.08% but at the same time that doesn't mean it was the only factor because he was 34 years old an an experienced drinker and drunk driver meaning he was good at driving drunk while being lit up like a Christmas tree didn't help things like i said before there are only 3 skid marks leading to the crash site and one was far to the inside of the left most bold skid mark meaning a wheel was dragging theres more to this then drunk driving thats for damn sure felony stupid leads to manslaughter and killing yourself i still say rest in peace Ryan Dunn you will be missed
Agree with the statement "no sympathy for drunk drivers", just too bad this dumbass had to kill someone else too. Fortunately no innocent bystanders were hurt. I never watched Jackass anyway and don't understand why some guy who shoved toy cars up his ass should be excused for being a retard and potentially endangering the lives of everyone on the road
From the skid marks, it looks like he realized he was going too fast and locked up the brakes. That pitched the car forwards which is why there's no mark from the back right tire. The front left is cockeyed NOT because of anything breaking but because the brakes were locked up. That gives you zero steering, so he had the wheel turned hard to the right to make the turn; however, the car was sliding, so he'd never make that turn no matter how far he turned. That's the best thing about anti-lock brakes - you retain better steering because the tires are still rolling. I'm a bit surprised that the Porsche doesn't have anti-lock brakes.
the thing about that is ive NEVER seen a car go into a skid and there wasn't 4 distinct skid marks you can even see in the skid mark photo that the road is uneven near the guard rail and the right skid mark breaks up as it goes over the uneven asphalt but returns after the uneven asphalt even if he was going sideways at 15 degrees there would be an outside 4th skid mark i dont see one at all its very unusual at the very least if he was sideways to some degree and the right rear or right front was off the ground to some degree there would be a dotted skid mark twords the right outside again i see none i think there is a video on TMZ of the crash site showing the skid marks ill look at it and post the link to it back here maybe im wrong  at the 4 second mark you get a really good shot of the skid marks i only see 3 skid marks in fact one skid mark goes from right to left of the car that rather unusual also http://www.tmz.com/2011/06/20/ryan-...-marks-video-pennsylvanie-dead-dies-accident/ http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true&mediaKey=d8076eec-43e5-4c9a-acc0-5a97de468b96
Ok... it is a tragic event whenever the loss of life occurs, and I feel sadness for Dunn's family and the passenger and his family, but not for Dunn himself. Not only did he get into a .2 BAC condition (which is EXCEEDINGLY BAD), he got behind the wheel and was actually driving over 130 mph, which is a terrible idea not only on his part, but on the part of whomever he was with to actually let the guy drive. And the end result not only got himself killed, but his actions also ended the life of someone else (the passenger). So, he basically took the life of his passenger through his own actions. So, I feel sadness for the families and the passenger, but not for Dunn.
Well, I guess Ryan is.... Dunn driving......... *sound of crickets, as well as a shotgun being pumped*
Guess the religious nut jobs are at it again. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/22/westboro-baptist-church-plans-to-protest-dunns-funeral/
I never really watched jackass (not a Knoxville Fan) but I loved viva la bam and not only enjoyed watching the pranks and stunts but seeing the genuine closeness of the ppl involved (you can't do stunts like that without genuine trust and faith in everyone around you) and what's worrying is if the "voice of reason" did something monumentally stupid like this what's gonna happen to Bam Margera now his best buddy is gone? R.I.P Ryan Matthew Dunn, had a blast watching you.
Can't really tell from the video. I hope they make a computer generated simulation of this accident; they sometimes do in cases like this.
