The guitarist, recording engineer, producer and manager Scotty Moore has died aged 84.

Moore was best known as Elvis' guitarist, playing on many of his hits, including That's All Right, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel and (You're the) Devil in Disguise. However, he was also Elvis' first manager.

During his career, Scotty was one of the early adopters of slapback echo and he is considered a pioneer of the country Travis picking style of playing in rockabilly music and bringing a lead guitarist to prominence in rock 'n' roll music. He has influenced many guitarists, including Jimmy Page, Bruce Springsteen and Keith Richards.

RIP Scotty. A legend, a pioneer and a great inspiration for many fellow guitarists. Your music will live on and continue to inspire me to master that Travis picking!
