The broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan has died aged 77 after a short battle with cancer. Sir Terry came to prominence in the 1960s, first in his native Ireland then coming to UK Radio with the BBC. After presenting The Light Programme, he became the host of Radio 2's Breakfast Show in the 1970s. Other shows he presented included Come Dancing and Blankety Blank. He also hosted their coverage on radio of The Eurovision Song Contest before taking the reigns on television as its presenter in the Eighties. That decade also brought a series of popular television chat shows and the start of a long association as the presenter of Children in Need - a position he remained in from 1980 to 2014. He also voiced cartoon Stoppit and Tidyup, and had several hit singles. He also penned several books. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35453541?SThisFB RIP Sir Terry. A national treasure and legendary presenter. You will be missed.
Another British national treasure has gone. We'll be left with shit such as those no talent so called celebrate faces such as Joey Essex, Ryland and all the other no marks before you know it. I never was a fan of Terry but it was clear he was something special towards the country. Yet another victim of cancer
"Another one bites the dust" to quote the Queen song. Terry was a good broadcaster, had his moments and in his day was an excellent TV interviewer.
Yes, Graham Norton is good on it now but Terry was the one that did the trend of taking the mickey about Eurovision, as it deserved.
To be fair, Graham Norton is kinda filling his shoes... Irishman who has a Radio 2 show, a BBC chat show, presents Eurovision and Comic Relief, I believe he's even voiced a cartoon.
