From andriasang: "G-Mode issued a statement today announcing that its CEO Takeshi Miyaji died suddenly on July 29. Miyaji was 45 years old. Miyaji is known for his work at Gamearts, a company that he founded at the age of 19 with his brother Yoichi Miyaji. He worked on a number of Gamearts classics, including Silpheed (PC, Mega CD), Gun Griffon (Saturn), and the Grandia series. In 2000, he formed G-Mode. G-Mode did not share the circumstances of Miyaji's death. Taking his place as CEO of G-Mode will be Ryu Okoriyama CEO of Gaia Holdings." Grandia is my favorite RPG, one whose music, characters, story and style always bring a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. He will be sorely missed.
FUCK. This is like a bucket of cold water. Grandia saved my life when I was 20, no kidding. Distracted me enough from a tremendous depression. I loved those games to death, and they were a huge part of my life. This is really, really sad.
Man, this is really sad. Game Arts were one of the few companies in the 90's that really did push the boat out. Grandia, Dina Island and Gungriffon for Saturn, Silpheed, Yumimi Mix and Urusei Yatsura for the Mega CD and Alisa Dragoon for the Mega Drive are all impressive bits of software that I love. This really is a loss that I care about unlike most :crying: Yakumo
Ouch, honestly, just too young. Sad to hear this... At least his amazing work will live on, even though Grandia was the only game I have played, twas an amazing one.
Anybody know the cause of death or has it not been released? Lunar is one of those games on my to play list but I just haven't gotten around to playing yet.
They didn't release it. But when the creator of Crayon Shin-chan can die falling off a cliff... anything's possible. I choose to believe he gave his life helping stop the nuclear emergency in Fukushima, much like Spock in Star Trek II.
A sad loss indeed. Game Arts made some of my favourite games that I still enjoy today (Gungriffon 1/2, Silpheed MCD), not to mention the fantastic Alisia Dragoon... One of the more 'quiet' game creators who made games that you can actually care about.
