Terry Nutkins, well known British wildlife television presenter, has lost his battle with leukaemia aged 66.

Terry was well known in the UK for shows such as Animal Magic and The Really Wild Show.

RIP Terry - your enthusiasm for animals was largely responsible for my interest in wildlife programmes and indeed wildlife itself.

I expect a lot of people here are going 'Who?', but at least in the UK Terry Nutkins was the guy on TV that did all the kids' nature programs.

    RIP Terry.

Thanks Retro. That's a real downer. I always watched Animal Magic and The Really Wild Show. Terry was one of the childhood icons of my generation. I didn't even know he was ill.

I'm in the USA, but I remember seeing a special on animals with him on PBS when growing up. It was very cool.

Sorry to hear about his passing.

Yeah, we all grew up with him - he was a great presenter and made it a really interesting subject. As good as David Attenborough is, he wasn't quite as accessible as a child, I found. He was one of those people that everyone in the country grew up with and liked.

And I didn't know he was ill, either - think it was kept out of the media.
