The writer, director, producer and actor Wes Craven has died aged 76, after losing his battle with brain cancer.

After starting his directing career in porn under many pseudonyms, most of which he kept secret, he broke into the horror genre with his first feature film - Last House on the Left, which he wrote and directed. The Hills Have Eyes was another popular title both penned and produced by Wes, but he is best known for A Nightmare on Elm Street and a string of sequels featuring one of the most famous horror characters, Freddy Krueger. Wes also directed another popular series of horror films, Scream and its sequels.

Elm Street was ok but I've always really loved The Hills Have Eyes. Sorry to hear about his passing.

How depressing is this. What a shame. One of horror's greats leaves us. Time for a movie marathon in remembrance.
