Got a phone call today from the company I use for storage, they had a break in last night and one of the units broken into was mine. Luckily it doesn't appear that they had taken much if anything from my unit but the place was a mess. Basically they gone in and broke the locks off every door in one area. It looks like they knew something was there but not sure which. What annoys me is the fucking Regional Manager dismissing it as just kids. Having seen some of the CCTV (you cant move on site with out being watched) you can tell its not "just kids": The guys who did it looked the business and managed to disable the alarms. Now I have to spend New years eve moving units insted of being at my mates partying. Grr Im just ranting off sorry...
I'm about to put stuff into storage myself...any lessions to be learnt? Can you ask the Police about incidents at a site? (i.e. previous incidents)
Most store places are the same sort of deal - in an old warehouse or mill. I guess the only thing I can say is see if they have shutters on the emergency exits so they cant be forced open. Not sure if the police will take you anything about the site but it cant hurt to ask the storage company about each site. My site was a new site so all the security was brand new and this was the 1st time any trouble has happened.
Thanks for info...I'll maybe google for forums on feedback on particular sites, maybe people have posted feedback on the web cheers
