We all have our own RE1.5's, mine being numerous titles from my childhood. This is one of them.

I remember hearing how supposedly over a decade ago now, a sale was made for a prototype of this game by Pachuka of Sonic Cult/Emu Cult on these forums. So far, any searches I turn up only lead me to a copy of the game seen in this old (cropped thanks to GameSniped) eBay pic, dating June 15th, 1993.

This version eventually ended up selling to a friend if mine, who noted the differences in the following thread and pretty much showed that this one in particular wasn't anything too interesting as far as protos go.

I've tried finding any leads I can to the original sale made here years ago, of what was apparently an earlier version. That is, unless somehow stories got distorted and the copy up there is the same one Pachuka sold here long ago. Whatever the case, I'd love to see a prototype of this game and keep hoping the person who bought that old copy will show up again.

As far as differences go, this one magazine shot pretty much sums up the only "early" screenshots I've ever been able to find of the game.

The only differences that matters here is that the first boss has a different design from the final.

I thought I'd make this thread to see what happens, since I can't imagine my WTB threads all over the net are going to get noticed by everyone. I never even look at any WTB threads besides my own, so can't expect anyone else to not do that same :p This was one of my most played games during my childhood, so it'd be neat to see what could be different in a more earlier version. Can I get a whoa Bundy?

I can check out some other magazines for early screenshots and will post the scans here.

That'd be nice if you have any Sega publications that aren't too known. I know the UK had tons of different Sega magazines that are impossible to find any scans of. So far any previews I've found all tend to have the exact same screenshots as above too, so it doesn't seem like most publications got much of a hands on preview with it.

Thanks for the pics! Got a date for the issue of whatever magazine it comes from?

I don't see anything different in the shots besides the fact the lives counter has three number slots rather than two, which if this were a Sonic game people would go nuts and cry for joy, but I'm not so easily pleased =p Really makes me wonder even more exactly what was different in this supposed proto that sold here.

I take it the earliest shots to be found would likely be in a JP magazine like Beep! Megadrive or Megadrive Fan, which aren't easy to find. And of course the plethora of Sega magazines from elsewhere like Sega Magazin in Germany.

Thanks for looking, let me know if you find anything else. I'm still scouring as many scans online as I can but think I've found most I ever will.

SEGA Power issue 44, July 93.

LOL :biggrin-new: I know what you mean.

Also, the 2 page magazine adverts by Konami (you've probably seen) uses BETA pictures for some reason.

    Huge bump.

I mostly am just curious if anyone new will see this and lead me to anything. Kinda treating this thread like a sales thread in that respect I suppose, but anyway... :)

Proto or not, it's a PAL version so, apart from the number of difficulty levels which was different from the Japanese and the North American version, don't expect many differences of it.
