A couple months ago I stumbled across this link that detail several unreleased and early builds of Mega Man games, the one catching my attention the most being a Rockman 3 prototype. Upon examining the pictures shown, they seem to match up perfectly with Famitsu preview screenshots. Can anyone confirm or deny any of the existence of these games? ALSO, I am aware that the site says outright that some of these are April Fool's jokes, but I believe the RM3 prototype cartridge is real. I don't see any reason that one would be real when the rest are clear fakes. Did you msg the site for confirmation or anything? I guess it can be confusing since he put HOAX above two that are clearly hoaxes, but others there are too obviously fake (nonsense JP ads give it away for one) yet don't say hoax anywhere.
It is a hoax. See the "April Fool's" in the email link at the end of the post: http://themechanicalmaniacs.com/misc/RM3Beta.php In any event, I know that a Japanese collector on Twitter posted a photo of his collection of Famicom prototype carts a few years back, among which were a Rockman 3 and an original Rockman. No clue as to the contents, though, so both could possibly just be final (or essentially final) games.
Alright then. Thanks for the insight. Do you know who the collector is or if he still owns those carts?
