Rockstar just locked the doors and told 100 people to never show up again!

THe MAX PAYNE franchise is dead for sure now. The people who did the XBOX versions of GTA worked there too.

You can pretty much assume that unless GTA4 for 360 sells well, rockstar is done for.

great news, somehow, assuming that these people were to "blame" for the wave of generic GTA-like games on the past gen of systems.

Does Rockstar even own Remedy Entertainment? Or do you mean Rockstar shut down their studio that they let Remedy use while developing it (Rockstar Canada, i think?)

In any case, could you please post the source article? I'd like to read more.

That's like saying that Bungie is to blame for all of the crappy fps style games out there just because they made a successful one.

Well Halo itself at least was not shallow and boring, whereas GTA was in my opinion. I respect the fact that many people love that game, but to me it lacks depth and tends to be more repetative than tetris. But tetris is simple and I ll always go for a spin on it every now and then. Then again, that's only my opinion, don't hate me :)

I understand that, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no reason to hate you. I actually stopped playing San Andreas for a long time after getting flat out bored with it.

I was just stating that you can't blame the maker of a high selling game (regardless of how good or bad it may be, since that varies with opinion) for the fact that other producers will endlessly jump on the bandwagon to produce knock-offs in hopes that they will get the same successes as an already "tried and true" formula.

Weird. Maybe this is in anticipation of that table tennis game flopping on its ass.

Well, after Nintendo showed their Wii Tennis game everything else looks fairly dull by comparison when it comes to "recreating the feeling/intensity of real (table) tennis", as I believe Rockstar said that was what they were going for.

remedy sold the max payne franchise to take 2 for a big bunch of money so they could develop there own games without hazzle (alan wake for example) i think maybe take 2 may have to do something with that breakup ?

I really think it was 3drealms who sold the rights to take2 sometime after the first max payne.

They used the cash to fund the development of the never ending Duke 4 Ever
