Hi there, Just a small topic to share with you the birth of Hyper Street Kart, a Super Mario Kart rom hack on Super Nintendo. My friend and I replaced most of all the graphs add new tracks. Here's some gameplay footage on real hardware (I made some repros ^^) : Sound is slightly off and Youtube compressed a bit too much, but it's my first try to upload a 1080p/60fps.
Thanks everyone. @lardo4life not right now, my friend want to keep it for a bit: he want to gift some repros at his friends and want them to be special for a time. I'll eventually make a IPS patch and post it on Romhacking.net, but I have no idea when exactly.
Thanks, but sorry no port. Would be technicaly difficult to do. SMK use the Mode7 + an additional DSP in the cart to make the game working. Restart from scratch from an other game is the best solution (Street Racer?) but nope, won't do it: some steps were a pain in the a** and the easy ones (editing the tracks) were because there's some dedicated tools. If I had to choose to make another hack it would be ones with tools or on 3D.
Gasega68k made pretty impressive f-zero and smk demos on the mega drive without a dsp, so it's possible *wink*. But, seriously, I was only joking. Good work on the hack.
Bumping the old thread - IPS patch is available = http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3129/ Also limited Boxed versions are available (check my youtube channel)
White washing with a green beast? You mean the repro? You cannot do a Mario Kart repro without sacrifice, because of the DSP-1.
