Hey, I found my OG xbox. It boots up, but displays a 07 error code, all lights are red. Any ideas on what's wrong with it?

It's possible the HDD has just died from mechanical failure. Can u hear it spin up on boot? Does it make clicking noises? Check all the cables are securely attached.

I opened it up, and made sure all the IDE cables are secure. It still displays the 07 rrod code. I don't hear the HDD spinning, so it must be dead. Could I just put in another hard drive? Or where do I buy another one for it?

Ah, that's where it gets interesting. All Xbox HDD are locked with a security key which is motherboard specific (sound familiar?). U will need to extract the eeprom firmware from the mobo and read the key, then lock the new HDD with it. Might as well install evolution x and xbmc while u are there. I used a home made eeprom reader, ndure and a pc with an ide (pata) connector. I then flashed the TSOP with xecuter bios using the Hexen or slayer disc (can't remember). The tutorials should still be somewhere on google. Have fun.

Probably more straight forward to install a modchip and new hdd.

    Removes a lot of steps

If you are going to the trouble of calling it OG in parenthesis, why call it Xbox One in the first place and not just OG Xbox since the majority of people in the community call it OG Xbox now since Xbox One was released in 2013? Just seems like making it overly complicated and perpetuating confusion in the community. Although anybody not able to tell the difference from OG and Xbox One now I would seriously question.

Not trying to be an asshole here, just seriously curious. ;)

I think micro$oft messed everything up by calling the recent addition Xbox One. Sort it out micro$oft, u already released the Xbox one in 2002!

I've revised the OP. Hope that helps :). Didn't think of making the post with the end in mind.

    Update :
I'll put a mod chip in it, due thanks to @Bad_Ad84 suggestion. Then replace the HDD. Thanks folks.
