I have barely anything. Sega Game Gear Game Boy GameCube I think an NES deluxe set (in original box) is on my way, though.
Quality counts I think theres too many people with rooms full of boxes that never find the time to play any of it...
hehe, dont worry. When I started to see myself as a collector, I had a PSX and a GB. The next thing I bought was a Super Nintendo, because I sold it a year before or so
Its a good time to collect gamecube stuff, sadly the machine is on it's way out which means new machines, games go cheap...not to mention steering wheels, pads etc.... Find a reason/track/guide/style to your collecting - sort of sets focus and stops you wasting cash on things that don't give you any return.... I bought quite a few cheap second hand consoles that were in poor shape, but they gave me an idea what stuff would give me most fun out of playing/collecting....and at end of day didn't waste much money finding my direction...
I agree with Bert Hardy, decide on your fave format and collect for that. If collecting is what you want to do that is? you can get alot of pleasure from learing all about one format and trying to get a full set of games for it.. then after that descoving each region has variations you want to collect aswell, its like a disease ;-) Of the above I would recomend the Game Gear as it would be perhaps the easyest and cheapest to collect for. Plus theres some really great games for it. try smspower.org for more info.
I have to admit I am in this gang as well But I do have some great stuff sitting in the cupboards
I'd say the Gamecube would be the easiest to collect for, any system that had games that came in cardboard boxes is a pain to collect for. I wish i'd had a bit more direction when i started out, i've settled on just collecting SEGA stuff now but in the beginning i just picked up any game for any system. This has led to me having lots of games in storage boxes that i doubt i'll ever use but at the same time i won't part with them:banghead:
The reason I didnt choose the Game Cube is the still relativly high price for most games (maybe due to the backwards compatability on the wii) and how many Cube games are there? I'm just guessing it's alot more than GG games :katamari:
To the best of my knowledge there are 648 Gamecube releases, thats including PAL, NTSC and NTSC-J releases, not that many when you can still get most of them cheap in the High Street. As for the Game Gear: European releases-196 US releases -232 Japan releases -196 On top of those there's all the Majesco re-releases and the Tec-Toy releases. Some Game Gear games are becoming quite desirable now and the prices are just going up 'n' up, Gamecube prices are still quite high at the minute, but once everyone gets bored of the backwards compatibility of the Wii shops will be more or less giving them away. I'd choose whichever system i enjoyed the most and go from there:nod:.
Turns out I didn't win the deluxe set in box. I have right now: NES with 22 games, zapper, advantage, and this strange Quickshot joystick. Everything I listed above AND.... Atari 2600 Darth Vader (Hey, it was 10 bucks!)
