Found the following titles on some list about russian MD games. Has anyone ever played/seen them? Are these originally developed games, hacks of exisiting games or just exisiting games with a new cover/box/label? Never heard of some of them, but I am familiar with some. Final Fantasy= A Russian translation(and a pretty horrible translation at that) of Barver Battle Saga, a game that used the Chinese name for Final Fantasy in Taiwan just so the makers could get people to buy it Metal Gear Solid = forgot, but I know it was a hack of some game, don't bother giving it a second thought. Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2 - hack of some sea..boat game. Man, I'm not good at remembering the names of the originals.. I don't know what the rest are, but I'm 100% confident all Russian originals are just hacks of other games. There's a Lord of the Rings that's just the hack of some other sidescroller, and a Harry Potter that's a hack of Mick and Mack Gladiators or something that had that name(again, I'm absolute shit at recalling the names of the original games because they weren't great games to begin with).
Maybe it's cuz I only ever played the pirated Harry Potter hack, but it wasn't fun at all for me One interesting thing they did was actually replace all the graphics(afaik anyway) and try to make it look like you're running outside of Hogwarts for the first stage. Very godawful attempt though, the graphics are atrocious.
i have a Mega Drive harry Potter game that's original, not a hack and it's complete shite! Isometric maze type crap with only 3 levels. yakumo

Heh, they have Counter-Strike for the NES/Famicom as well too. I think in that case they turned it into an overhead run-and-gun type game.

Counter Strike is Lethal Enforcers. Metal Gear is Crackdown. PotC 1& 2 are Uncharted Waters and New Horizons. Not certain on the rest yet to be discussed but 90% they're as above, crummy hacks, at times with nothing more than a different title screen.

Do they change the main sprite in these hacks? If so I have another = Wario Land is Pugsy with the main sprite changed to Wario. Yakumo
