Wtf is this? Why would they do that? Its in a Chinese switch box i bought.
The s-video signal was getting super crappy after going through that box.
I opened it up and there was a 222 ceramic cap between Chroma and Luma at the output. WTF ?
I removed it and it "fixed" the image.
But why would they do this in the first place???

Shit design? Who knows but that's what happens when you buy cheap Chinese stuff.

That might just be it but its still curious. When the Chinese decide they are going to make something cheap they typically cut corners or omit parts. But here its the opposite, there is an extra part that i cannot guess why they used. It would have been simpler for them to simply not use it.

This leads me to believe that maybe there is some actual reason why they put that cap here. From my point of view however all it did was ruin the video quality.

That capacitor effectively makes the S-Video signal into CVBS by mixing the signal :p

Most Chinese making these cheap electronics are DRONES who have no idea what they are doing.

Yeah, exactly! Still, when fed to the S-video the result is much uglier than normal composite since the TV does not apply its filters.
This is so retarded... Maybe they have a version without that, and they use this a pretext to sell it as a Higher quality version! :highly_amused:
