    Hello everyone,

I got these CDs in a bundle.

    Anyone knows what they are?

    Thanks for your help!

PS: I had to modify the picture to remove serial number and company names...

Safedisc and securom were copy protection mechanisms. Looks like those are the tools to make your own executables protected by their software.

The upper (Safedisc) half, definitely. The bottom ones are also copy protection related, but for a different protection, and most of them don't seem to contain tools, but rather be some kind of master unlock discs (I'm guessing so you don't need to burn new disks all the time when recompiling once you have securom deeply ingrained in your build process), or maybe means of accessing tools on the securom developer's servers.

Thanks for your answers! Out of curiosity I tried the cds on my computer, the first one safedisc is indeed a software to create copy protected executables. The other one securom boots to a menu but then I am unable to do anything with it, most likely internal software of some kind that only works along with another tool...

I've had some dealings with Safedisc v2. Basically they lock the executable and you have to have a corresponding safedisc key CD in your cdrom in order for it to allow you to run the game. Luckily I got a bunch of key discs along with the protos.

You are right, unfortunately those that I have don't seem to be the good ones, I'm going to have to do more digging in my stuff...
