Samsung LCD TV , orange square on screen easy or hard fix ?

greetings members , i have a question.......... my sisters boyfriend and her have a Samsung LCD TV , it has a orange square on the screen. I did offer some advice on the situation and got the following response from my sister.

' We rang up some tv repair places and they said to fix it you might as well buy a new one it would be cheaper.
Its a big job apparently. '

i'm curious if this is true or his response is getting me to not interfere with them , he has once before responded before about me ripping DVD's for my sister and then playing through his Laptop to their TV. He sort of gave an answer that was flippant and setting up the Laptop never happened.

so yeah is this orange square problem a simple multi Capacitor replacement or a huge job like a Panel replacement ?

really all i want to do is help my sister but if i'm going to get silly responses from him i'll have to take a step back from them.
