Wow, nice find !! The front looks just like the Japanese version apart from the nasty looking Samsung logo where the Sega one should be on the left side. The back looks like the very early Saturn games for the Asian market, thanks to that big black boarder. Yakumo
Yes there are, came with the Samsung Saturn, which was sold in.. err, Hong Kong, I believe. I remember at least 3.. IIRC. Someone was supposed to be selling me one, but disappeared
Samsung saturn was korea I believe, Samsung being a korean company - The idea being that koreans would buy a console made by a korean company, not a Japanese one
Yes, there are more. I've seen a Nights and I'll post a pic of it when I'll get home (unfortunately I missed the original cd ).
Yup, it is Korean. I have some pictures somewhere, I will dig em out too! Oh and Lawrence has a machine..... http://nfg.2y.net/games/grafx/samsat.htm
That MS GamBoy jobbie is very cool. Especially the pad. Crazy different shaped carts too. I do like the MD though. Was the Mega CD ever released in Korea? Iirc, they removed the expansion pins on the Korean PCE.
Where these only sold packaged with consoles, or where they available separately? I wonder if having the Samsung logo helped sales of this console, even though it is still an officially licensed version of the Japanese Saturn. Anyone have a list of the titles that where released in the Korean packaging? When you compared this to the Japanese Sega Rally, did you see any differences? ^_^_^
They are NOT common items to come across...remember that. Even Lawrence has only seen 2, and he's had 3 Navi Saturns and a Hotel Saturn! Oh, and wasn't it Lawrence who had that first Sonic Saturn to hit eBay? I could only find one pic amongst my backups..... *EDIT*...but its not staying, don't wanna cause a dispute! It was obtained from the original seller, but if any board members want to prove it was THEIR picture, then please take another picture of the CD and we'll use that instead
I'd love an SGX! It would have to be unused, though!!!! OK, well you'll almost never see a Samsung Saturn on "eBay" Korea. And you'll NEED to know someone in Korea to get an account. Damn, that registration process is hard! It took me near enough an hour to get my head round it!!!
Is it still like that in So. Korea where japanese companies have to release their products under korean company names?
