There is a version of San Francisco Rush for PC.
It only runs with a Voodoo Banshee video card.

The game comes free with this card. I think the protection is cheap and easy to brake.

Anyone with knowledge want try to break the game´s protection?

    I have the game ^^
Interesting is, if you have a Banshee and a Voodoo2, you can swap the drivers and make the game use the Voodoo2 to render.
So, it only "search" for the Banshee, and if found, it will output to the default glide driver.

A friend of mine worked on the pc port of them game, they were working on another one as well from what he said. Considring the ammount of toolboxs around him the PC version of the game ran like a wet paper bag. For whatever reason they could never make it run properly on a PC *shrugs*
May not be worth the trouble anyway guys.

On today´s PCs, the game runs fine.
Anyway, It´s not a perfect arcade port :p

Wasn´t SF Rush (the arcade machine) using voodoo graphic boards ? just like a fighting game was ? I seem to have forgotten the name of that game.

Killer instinct Gold, most probably. And I believe it was using SGI graphics, not 3dfx

I'm suprised a game that old has copyright protection. Most games from that era pretty much didn't have any. I would like to see how the PC version looked like compared the console port.

    correct.
that fighting game probably was mace: the dark age.
there are a number of different atari games and hardware platforms that use 3dfx hardware.
    heres are some of these:

    http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=780
    http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=782
    http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=783
    http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=784

actually, some of these systems use a standard plugin pci graphics card.(the rest of the hardware isnt x86-based, however.)

that pc-port of san francisco rush: the rock was bundled with the quantum raven graphics card.
the "protection" just looks for a specific registry variable, i heard you just have to install the drivers for that specific card in order to bypass it.

I'm sure, for a game that old, Daemon Tools will do it. I love SF rush, so if you find a copy give me a PM ;-)

Even if you got around the software check for the Banshee, chances are good it will only render to Glide so it likely wouldn't run on any current hardware. :(

Or you could just run a Glide Wrapper. I use one on my computer for a few older games and they work pretty nice.

DG Voodoo is one of those wrappers.

Glidos is another one, but I believe that Glidos is only for dos. But check it out either way.

People will probably hate me, but i never enjoyed this game. I played a few times on the arcades and didn't like it at all. SF 2049 is in a totally different league, being a cool racing game.
