I'm thinking about buying a Sanyo Try 3DO for my collection.

I hope someone could help me out with some infos about that unit:
    - Is it region-code free / does it play US and PAL discs ?
    - Does it play CD-R media ?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes it plays all discs. It's pickier in my experiences about CD-R media than a FZ-10 however and a few of my U/C discs won't play for unknown reasons (I posted a thread here few months ago about this subject.) If the TRY doesn't like the disc, it will spit it out in about 2 seconds of insertion, I don't know how it checks the discs or what it's checking for but it's awfully picky.

Some other things you may want to consider: There is no LCD on the front of the unit, that's some rumor from people that have only seen it's picture (I originally thought it had a LCD because I heard this rumor.) Also don't pay too much for the thing, it was released just before the FZ-10 and should command the same money as one; it's truly no more rare or sought after than a Japanese FZ-10. I paid $100 for a brand new TRY and I don’t feel as though I got too much of a deal. People that don't own one tend to call it the best unit, I think the TRY's case is cool and the CDROM is neat but I think it's too fragile and I'm afraid it will break before too many years, I recently met two other people with TRY's and both of them have had serious CDROM problems in the past.

Looks like it has an LCD here. Is it just a sticker?

It's not a sticker either, it's just part of the glossy front piece, I suppose it's technically paint inside the plastic.
