Hey everyone, I recently acquired a TRY 3DO, and it has a strange issue with the CD drive. First off, one of the gears was missing which I rectified with 3D printing, but something is up with the actual operation. Previously, sometimes I could get the motor to work, but then it would only pull the tray in halfway. Sometimes the laser would move and the disc would spin, but at different points. As far as I can tell, everything seems to be functional, and I can't see anything that looks weird on any boards. However, I did notice that moving the smaller ribbon cable changes the behavior of the mechanisms. Right now the disc will spin constantly and the laser will move backwards, continuously hitting the end of its track. Sometimes the access light turns on, too. I'm thinking that cable is the culprit, but I'm not sure if this behavior is commonly caused by anything else. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen on a 3DO?
It is the cable thats at fault 100% this is wath you need: Pcs FFC 200mm 30 Pin Flexible Flat Cable 30Pin Ribbon Cable Forward Direction 1mm Pitch 20cm Length Same Side 30Pins For TTL https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cdfXbWIN now would u like to share that 3d print file?
Thanks so much! I'll grab myself one of those cables and see how things go. I'd be happy to share the file, but I'd like to do more testing once the drive is working properly before doing so. Just to make sure it functions consistently well.
