SATA HDD on Debug and dev kit

Can I USE sata HDD with debug kit, and what's adapter could you advice me?
3.5 or 2.5, what's the best?

I've never seen a 2.5 used in an xbox however I guess it could be done with a slight modification. I would recommend staying with 3.5 tho. My debug kit has a sata hdd with the adapter below.

Out of the few different adapters out there, this one has the quickest boot time.

Need more space for install adpter....I would like use 2.5 because it's seems too small for 3.5 HDD + adpater.

 

I've used a 2.5 on a TSOP modded retail console and it works. It depends on the HDD.

 

Make sure you use a 40-wire 80 conductor (Ultra-ATA standard) IDE cable, otherwise the adapter may not work properly with your SATA drive.

 

Not work properly in what way if i might ask? Data corruption? Slow speeds? Not recognized?

 

It likely won't be recognized. The first box I ever upgraded with a sata drive worked with the standard cable. The next several wouldn't be recognized so I figured it was some kind of fluke that the first time worked. It was many years ago so I can't recall if I had any data corruption or slow speeds on that first xbox.
