I bought a mint Satellaview and got it today. I heard there is a way to transfer BS Roms to the BS-X cart, but I can`t figure out how. Does anyone know how this works ?
I believe he means how to get the ROM images of the downloaded games onto one of the carts you would have originally downloaded the games to.
All the games could only be downloaded through the St. Giga network, that`s right. But almost every ROM has been dumped with copiers, as you can dump the content of the BS-X casette like every other cart. I once saw a hardware called "BS Data Recorder" on Yahoo Auctions which was an licensed product and perhaps someone here has more information about it. @LOL Ask yourself why you just LOLed :smt120
Noobage is funny to me, the first post screamed of it, sorry. Anyways, copiers most likely cannot actually map the BS-X cart and definately cannot access the memory pack. Most likely the games were dumped using homebrewn hardware. There is no way Nintendo would license a PC<->BSX link. I'll look into the "Data Recorder."
It`s completely useless without the main unit, or so I heard. @Kyuusaku: Did you try this yourself ? I never heard about someone building a custom reader and believe me, I`ve read a lot about that topic.
I'm thinking at some point someone had to do something about dumping the roms, and if the copiers really aren't able to work with the cart, then that would mean that someone probably hacked together their own transfer kit to dump things. Not that I've looked much, but AFAIK the only rom dumped has been a heavily modified BS Zelda.
Try searching for "Edge" & "Emu" in Google :smt040 They have hundreds of BS Roms for download. I`m looking into playing these on the original hardware, many don`t work on Emulators.
Unfortunately that wont easily happen, there are no commercial devices for rewriting BS-X memory cards, most likely this will be a job you're on your own for. That is, unless a "rom" mapped for a copier can "see" the Satellaview unit, then you're in business with just a Game Doctor.
