Finally got this in today, looks pretty good. Serial numebrs ont he box and console match, instructions for the Checker are included but it's a photocopy. I'm not sure if that's how it was originally. Can anyone tell me what it does? heh...
Hi Eric, To be honest I havn't used mine a whole lot, but I think this is the basic functionality: When programming in languages that can address memory directly, such as C and assembly, it is easy to screw up. If an instruction reference an invalid memory address - the code (game) will crash. The QA people might try to explain to the developers where the error occurred, but finding the bug can be a pain... This is where the address checker is useful. Think of it as Dr. Watson for Saturn. The address of the bad instruction light up in the LEDs. The QA people can pass this address on to the developers. The developers can pinpoint the error in their code... CF Lawrence got some info on this unit too (you must have seen this): http://nfggames.com/grafx/saturnAC.htm
Cool, thanks for the info. I'll link to that page when I sell it, probably. I don't think any buttons are missing. Maybe you're confusing the two holes that access switches as empty button holes?
